  • Employers across the city are planning a career fair at Davis Park Workforce Center to help job seekers and provide a fresh start for those re-entering the workforce—attendees will get resume help, free professional attire, and haircuts to boost their confidence. Amanda Biller, an ex-inmate studying to be a medical assistant, hopes the event opens new doors for her and her children.  LEX 18
  • The University of Kentucky Urban Forest Initiative will host Canopy Con 2025 on April 24th at the Fayette County extension office at 1140 Harry Sykes Way to educate community members, students and professionals about urban tree canopies. Renowned speakers Margaret D. Lowman + Lionel Bradford and hands-on demonstrations will show how urban forestry benefits neighborhoods while registration costs $40 with free admission for the first 30 students.  The Lane Report

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Alexandria Drive near Devonport Drive was shut down in both directions on Monday morning after a collision reportedly injured a pedestrian.  LEX 18

CRIME NEWS

  • A man with a gunshot wound arrived at a Lexington hospital around 6:30 p.m. Monday night — police have not identified a suspect or shooting location yet.  ABC 36

HEALTH NEWS

  • Kentucky lawmakers are proposing a new Medicaid rule that requires childless, able-bodied participants to work to qualify for care. Experts warn the change may harm families—especially those with mental health or substance use issues—and add extra paperwork and costs.  WUKY
  • Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals partners raised a record $2.31M for Kentucky Children’s Hospital in 2024, a 23% increase from last year. The funds supported projects such as animal therapy, sensory items for clinics, and vital research — helping improve care for local children.  The Lane Report
