ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A Lexington road saw 64-year-old Woodrow Flinchum die after being struck by a car on Winchester Road between Man O’ War and Polo Club around midnight, and although the driver was unharmed — police expect no criminal charges, the road was closed for two hours before reopening.  WKYT

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Keeneland Race Course and Maker’s Mark announced today a new commemorative bottle from the Greats of the Gate series that honors Lexington — a racehorse that won many races in the mid-1800s. The limited-edition bottle will hit shelves at select Kentucky stores on April 11 for $179.99, and money from sales will go to nonprofits that support horse racing and local arts — such as food rescue and hospitality programs.  The Lane Report

CRIME NEWS

  • Two men—Faezon Odom, aged 21, and Tyrese Ingram, aged 20—were charged with murder for the fatal shooting on River Park Drive that killed Darius Gaston-Garner, aged 19, after he was taken to a hospital following a 12:45 p.m. shooting on Wednesday; Ingram was arrested in Louisville and awaits extradition.  FOX 56
  • On Wednesday at around 3 a.m., a car drove through the VIP Smoke Shop on Hartland Parkway in Lexington—police reported that no one was hurt and the fire department checked the building.  ABC 36
  • Lexington police are searching for 48 year old Aaron Perkins on charges that include first degree strangulation, fourth degree assault, unlawful imprisonment and criminal mischief — he is described as having brown hair, blue eyes, standing 5 feet 9 inches tall and weighing 200 pounds.  FOX 56

ECONOMY NEWS

  • The Kentucky Bourbon Trail celebrated its 25th anniversary after drawing a record 2.7 million visitors in 2024—its new digital tools and rebranding campaign making it easier for guests to plan trips. The Trail now includes 60 distilleries that welcome visitors from all 50 states and over 20 countries, with many staying three to five days in local communities.  The Lane Report

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Violent storms with tornadoes hit parts of the South and Midwest today, bringing heavy rain, strong winds, hail, and flooding that left power out for over 250,000 customers (affecting several states) and caused one death in southeast Missouri. Governor Beshear declared a state of emergency in Kentucky as officials warn that dangerous weather may continue for several more days.  WUKY

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Today, Scott County emergency managers are preparing for severe storms that could drop 5-7 inches of rain and cause flash flooding, so residents in rural areas near Sadieville and Georgetown are urged to stay home if conditions feel unsafe. Officials will use interactive maps (which show how each inch of rain may affect flood levels) to guide their response and protect the community.  FOX 56
