ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Authorities in Madison County are investigating a death after firefighters responded to a house fire on the 1200 block of Barnes Mill Road Sunday night and found 69 year old Gregory Brackney inside, who was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead+ an autopsy is scheduled while no foul play is suspected.  LEX 18
  • Floodwaters trapped residents in Clay City and Powell County rescue teams completed several water rescues with no injuries while a mudslide in Slade—the third this week—led officials to recommend evacuation in the area though no mandatory orders are in place.  FOX 56

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • County officials signed a disaster declaration for historic flooding that forced the evacuation of Camp Nelson RV Park and the High Bridge area by boat and led to four water rescues. They said damage assessments will take several weeks until the water recedes—donations of cleaning supplies for affected residents will be accepted at the City of Wilmore Municipal Center—while water treatment operations remain shut down.  FOX 56
  • Gov. Andy Beshear and state leaders gave an update on Monday, April 7 on how they handled the dangerous flooding. Transportation Secretary Jim Gray and Emergency Management Director Eric Gibson joined him—adding details about next steps in the state's response.  FOX 56

HEALTH NEWS

  • Federal health officials announced that Johnsonville is recalling 22,672 pounds of cheddar bratwurst because they may contain hard plastic — the product was produced on Feb. 5 and sold in ten states including Kentucky. Consumers are urged to check freezers and discard or return any recalled product.  FOX 56
