COMMUNITY NEWS

  • United We Shop held its third annual vendor fair at United Events in Georgetown on Saturday with 40 local vendors selling food, jewelry, clothing and coffee — a partnership with the University of Kentucky provided students hands-on experience in event management.  LEX 18

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • On Saturday morning, Lexington police reported that a car drove into a business on the 3000 block of Beaumont Centre Circle at 11:14 a.m.—the front glass was damaged with no injuries and no charges filed.  LEX 18

CRIME NEWS

  • A fatal shooting took place Friday night near Paris Pike and Thorndale Drive in Georgetown—police identified a person of interest and advised residents to avoid the area.  FOX 56

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Kentucky students took part in College Scholarship Day at Keeneland Racetrack on April 11th after last Friday’s meet was canceled due to heavy rain — the event provided them a chance to learn about college opportunities.  Kentucky Kernel

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Agriculture experts and the USDA advise residents to destroy mud-like egg masses as soon as they appear to stop spotted lanternflies from harming trees and plants. Each mass holds 30 to 50 eggs and is often found on trees or outdoor gear—state officials ask that any sightings be reported before proper disposal.  FOX 56

SPORTS NEWS

  • Kentucky finished spring practice yesterday at Kroger Field as head coach Mark Stoops said the team made strong progress in rebuilding its culture after a 4-8 season. The Wildcats will work in the weight room for three more weeks — then adjust the roster when the transfer portal opens from April 16 to 25.  ABC 36
