- ➤ After two major floods, the American Red Cross has been delivering relief kits, meals and supplies to communities across Kentucky—today they provided aid at the High Bridge community center where residents clean up flood damage. The agency asks for donations to help continue its support for affected families. LEX 18
- ➤ God’s Pantry Food Bank opened its new Lexington warehouse and administrative offices at 2201 Innovation Drive, replacing its old location with 127,232 s.f. of space that will boost its capacity to distribute fresh food for 50 million meals and scale up to 60 million meals annually. The opening also launched a $40M campaign—Building the Future, Nourishing Communities—to expand food assistance for 265,000 residents facing hunger in Central and Eastern Kentucky. The Lane Report

- ➤ Lexington police are investigating an overnight incident after hearing gunshots and finding a stolen vehicle near Leestown Rd—officers detained a suspect who fled after exiting the car. ABC 36
- ➤ A former University of Kentucky men’s basketball player, Daniel Orton, 34, was accused of violating an emergency protective order on Saturday by coming within 500 feet of a victim at Fayette Mall around 9 a.m.—he will appear in court on April 21. FOX 56

- ➤ Mayor Linda Gorton presented her proposed 2025-2026 Lexington budget that calls for a $539 million general fund starting July 1 and includes $3.4 million for winter services, $19 million for road safety projects and $28 million for sewer improvements—council approval is needed. WKYT
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ UK researcher Matthew Bush—chair of the College of Medicine’s Otolaryngology Department—is working on new telehealth and remote care methods to treat hearing loss and help people in rural areas. He received the Presidential Early Career Award earlier this year for his NIH-funded project that aims to lessen stigma and open doors to care. The Lane Report
