- ➤ Bryan Station High School dean of students and assistant boys basketball coach John Jay Bordas was arraigned on a wanton endangerment charge after he allegedly pointed a gun at a driver at the Clearwater Way—Fiddlers Creek intersection in February. LEX 18

- ➤ On April 24, University of Kentucky alumni, faculty, staff, students and friends took part in the 'One Day for UK' event to support funding for university projects. - ➤ The Lexington Police Department has hired a full-time Behavior Health and Wellness Coordinator to provide free, unlimited counseling to officers, recruits, non-sworn employees, retirees and their immediate families—an effort that aims to break the stigma around mental health. WKYT
- ➤ Lexington Community Corrections officer Kevin Chaney died unexpectedly nearly one week ago and left behind a daughter, sister, and mother. His department lowered its flag to half-staff and set up a GoFundMe account—colleagues remember him for his kindness and humor. LEX 18
- ➤ A task force of the Lexington Fayette Urban County Council met Thursday to review House Bill 664 that starts a pilot program for automated speed enforcement devices in highway work zones and gives citations to drivers exceeding the posted speed limit by more than 10 mph when workers are present. The law, known as the Jared Lee Helton Act, was signed on April 4 and requires clear signs to alert drivers—measures intended to improve work zone safety. WKYT
- ➤ Fayette County Public Schools did not sign a U.S. Department of Education letter sent on April 3 asking schools to certify Title VI compliance, saying they already meet the law. The district will continue to support education programs for over *42,000* students and uphold its strong commitment to equal opportunity. ABC 36

Andy Beshear today announced more than a dozen new vocational programs at correctional facilities and signed an executive order to establish the Team Kentucky Office of Reentry Services—led by Natalie Burikhanov and Ann Blaylock—to boost job growth and reduce recidivism.
