ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ On Saturday afternoon, a car crash on Bryan Station Road took the life of 17-year-old Matthew Perrine, and his family—supported by friends and classmates—is hosting a memorial at Frederick Douglass High School on Sunday while urging the city to improve road safety. WKYT
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ International students at the University of Kentucky had their visas reinstated after being revoked for protesting, but many still face issues with accessing their records. Immigration attorney Heather Hadi said students with locked SEVIS accounts (the student visa system) will have to reapply (as deadlines are approaching). FOX 56
- ➤ Four college presidents from Bellarmine University, Centre College, Berea College and Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary signed a letter today criticizing federal higher education policies — UK was not included and protests over canceled identity-based graduation ceremonies took place. University officials said following the law is necessary and that commencement will be held at Rupp Arena on May 9 and May 10. WKYT

- ➤ Council begins work on the FY26 Budget this week as Mayor Linda Gorton’s Proposed Budget was released two weeks ago; today at 1 p.m.—Council meets in the Budget Committee to adopt a revenue projection showing $520 million in new funds plus $18 million in pre-funding, with a final vote expected by early June.
