- ➤ On Sunday morning, over 100 people gathered at the UK Arboretum for the Blue Morpho Walk to honor Alexandra Simpson and raise funds for Kentucky Children’s Hospital—an event started by her mother Melanie Simpson Conley as a lasting tribute to her daughter. WUKY
ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ A Lexington family mourns their teenage son who died in a head-on crash on Bryan Station Road over the weekend—another teen injured in the accident remains in hospital fighting for his life. FOX 56
- ➤ A head-on collision—killing 17-year-old student Matthew Perrine of Frederick Douglass High School—seriously injured a woman, her twin 6-year-old daughters, her son, and his girlfriend. LEX 18
- ➤ Firefighters responded just before 5 a.m. to a fire in the kitchen of a vacant townhome on the 400 block of East Sixth Street in downtown Lexington — the blaze was quickly put out and no injuries were reported. FOX 56
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Joshua Hampton, 32 from Lily, died after being struck just before 7 a.m. on April 16 at the intersection of Georgetown Road and Mercer Road when Jaime Caldwell—a Fayette County teacher arrested at Glendover Elementary School with a blood alcohol content of 0.278—was driving the vehicle. FOX 56

- ➤ Lexington road crews have been filling potholes caused by early April rains by cleaning, prepping, and tamping a quick-setting mix—Public Service Supervisor James Hess said crews complete 20-30 work orders each day. Mayor Linda Gorton unveiled a budget on April 15 that devotes more than $19 million to improving city roads to support these repairs. FOX 56
