GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Gov. Andy Beshear said Kentucky’s labor force reached its largest size in state history as the state recovered from the pandemic, with records showing over 2,006,555 employed as of March (over 32,000 new workers joined between February 2020 and March). Rising job searches kept the unemployment rate at 5.2% at the end of 2024 even as businesses reported almost triple that number in nonfarm jobs filled. FOX 56

- ➤ Lexington Clinic opened its state-of-the-art Orthopedic and Neuroscience Center at 1207 South Broadway to offer coordinated care in orthopedics, neurology, and related fields— a ribbon-cutting ceremony and grand opening celebration will take place later in May. The Lane Report
- ➤ Gov. Beshear announced today that Kentucky overdose deaths dropped by 30.2% in 2024 compared with last year—1,410 deaths were reported statewide and Black residents’ deaths fell 37.3% from 271 to 170—while the report revealed fentanyl in 62.3% of cases and methamphetamine in 50.8%.
