- ➤ RD1 Spirits opened its new distillery May 14 in The Commons near downtown Lexington with a research lab, bourbon bar, speakeasy and gift shop as part of a $5 million project. - ➤ A new data dashboard from the Sierra Club shows that if EPA loosens pollution rules, more Kentuckians will face harmful air+water pollution that can lead to higher rates of asthma and cancer. - ➤ Attorney General Coleman announced that a federal court dismissed a challenge to Kentucky House Bill 11—a vape law that lets only approved vendors sell vapor products and bans sales to those under 21. The law passed in April 2024 and went into effect Jan. 1, and state officials plan to uphold its measures to protect public health. LEX 18
- ➤ Yesterday, developers shared plans for a 127,000-square-foot Kroger Marketplace and apartment complex near Frederick Douglass High School, and more than 100 neighbors expressed concerns about traffic, light pollution, and pedestrian safety along Winchester Road — a traffic study is planned and a public hearing on the zone change is set for June 26 at the government center.
