  • On Memorial Day, hundreds gathered at Jacobson Park for the Alano Club’s fourth annual Unity Picnic—hosted with local partners to provide over 40 resource booths and vital recovery support—demonstrating renewed hope and resilience among community members.  FOX 56

BUSINESS NEWS

  • MiddleGround Capital from Lexington bought Zoerkler GmbH and Co KG, a company in Austria that makes strong parts for planes, cars, trains and factories, and will join it with its firm Xtrac that builds transmission systems for race cars and fast vehicles. The move builds on MiddleGround’s work in making electric drive systems — it will help the firm serve more customers around the world.  The Lane Report
  • The Alltech ONE Conference will return to Lexington at the Central Bank Center from May 18th to 20th, 2026. Global agri-food experts will meet to share new ideas for innovation and sustainability – many leaders are planning to attend.  The Lane Report

  • Council is finalizing the Fiscal Year 2026 Budget this week—after holding a Budget COW Meeting on Tuesday, they will vote on recommended changes and proposals at the Thursday 10 a.m. meeting in Council Chambers, where residents can attend or watch live on LexTV.  CivicLex

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • Kansas City-based real estate developer Hunt Midwest has begun construction on two Class A industrial buildings at Simpsonville 64 Logistics Park in Simpsonville—off Interstate 64 exit 28, offering 775,000 square feet of space available for lease. Building II is scheduled for completion in Q1 and Building I will finish 30 days later as infrastructure improvements began this spring.  The Lane Report
