  • EKU Aviation flew donations gathered by local groups to help those recovering from a historic EF-4 tornado that struck southern Kentucky two weeks ago, which caused 19 deaths and widespread damage. Volunteers are sorting supplies at London Corbin Airport—I the distribution center is open daily from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.  WKYT

CRIME NEWS

  • Lexington police continue searching for 15-year-old Aoun Ismail Basboos who was last seen on May 11 in the 3500 block of Spangler Drive — Blue Grass Crime Stoppers offer a $2,500 reward for tips to locate him.  LEX 18
  • Nicholasville police ask residents to help locate 18-year-old Deasis Thomas who has been missing since Monday, May 26—authorities issued a Golden Alert and described him as having long, black, curly hair.  FOX 56
  • A job applicant for Lexington Blue said he was threatened by owner Brad Pagel after posting about his 2017 hiring experience on Reddit, and he obtained a restraining order when texts showed Pagel urging employees to support him online while the company closed in late April amid a state investigation.  WKYT

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Frederick Douglass High School seniors kicked off graduation ceremonies among six Fayette County high schools at Rupp Arena on Thursday morning in Lexington. Families and students reflected on their high school journey — some saying the day passed quickly while others expressed bittersweet emotions as the milestone began.  LEX 18

HEALTH NEWS

  • Saint Joseph Health renewed a multiyear agreement with UnitedHealthcare that allows patients with UnitedHealthcare coverage to keep in-network access to services—such as Medicare Advantage—at its hospitals and clinics across central and eastern Kentucky. The deal supports the health system’s goal to offer quality care today and in the future.  The Lane Report

  • Kentucky football’s first three weeks are set with the Wildcats scheduled to face Toledo on August 30 at 12:45 p.m. on SEC Network, Ole Miss on September 6 at 3:30 p.m. on ABC 36, and Eastern Michigan on September 13 at 7:30 p.m. on ESPNU — UK opens SEC play at home against Ole Miss in Week Two.
