COMMUNITY NEWS

  • A London arcade called The Palace is donating time and game cards to families affected by the recent tornado—its operations manager said he personally delivers nonperishable items like diapers and formula from community donations. The arcade offers a free game card with every donation and will continue its efforts until every family in need is helped.  LEX 18
  • Donald Miller was hired as park director for Gatton Park at Town Branch—a new park that will open Aug. 23 when a parking lot turns into green space—and he will lead efforts to create a safe and vibrant park that reflects Lexington’s community spirit.  The Lane Report

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Cannabuzz, Lexington’s first Cannabis cocktail lounge and the world’s first micro-cannabuzzery, will reopen its flagship location in the Distillery District on Saturday, June 21 from 12 p.m. to 10 p.m.—the event celebrates the city’s 250th anniversary and launches new THC-infused beverages like Lemon Haze Tea and Pineapple Express Punch.  The Lane Report

CULTURE NEWS

  • Jeanette Tesmer is hosting the Living Arts & Science Center Putt Putt PARTEE, a mini-golf event for local families—details on timing and entry fees are still to be announced.  WKYT

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The University of Kentucky Board of Trustees began reviewing proposals for up to $110 million in investments for UK Athletics facilities to support a new governance model—aimed at boosting revenue and supporting student athlete compensation—and set a full board review for June 13. The proposals include funding for maintenance at Kroger Field plus renovations and new revenue projects like an Entertainment District.  The Lane Report

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Lexington approved its 2026 budget that allocates nearly $300 million for public safety + invests $4.9 million in the Affordable Housing Fund. The plan also sets aside $14 million for street paving and maintenance, $500,000 for public transportation and $400,000 for repairing unsafe sidewalks.  WKYT
