- ➤ Over 600 people gathered on Saturday at the University of Kentucky's student center to celebrate the life of Noah Tinch, a student who died in a fly fishing accident on June 12 in Colorado. Friends and close peers passed out rubber bracelets (inscribed with 'Live Like Noah') to honor his memory. LEX 18
- ➤ On Saturday, dozens of veterans + motorcycle enthusiasts gathered at Man o’ War Harley Davidson for the second annual Wreath Run at Camp Nelson National Cemetery to raise funds for extra wreaths after organizers found they were 3,000 short. The ride passed several military monuments + has already raised $8,000 while wreaths will be placed on every grave on December 13th. WKYT
- ➤ The Lexington Rescue Mission opened a 5,112-square-foot building on Glen Arvin Avenue where over 200 people a day now get meals and a place to cool off in the heat. The center—soon to offer daily chapel services as final work finishes—also provides laundry, a clinic with counseling and addiction help, and job training to help people move from homelessness to housing. - ➤ Data from a SmartAsset study showed that average rent in Lexington rose by 5.71% from $1,340 in February 2024 to $1,416 in February—adding to a five-year increase of 44.83% and mirroring trends seen in other large U.S. cities. FOX 56
FINANCE NEWS
- ➤ The Kentucky Agricultural Finance Corporation approved over $5 million in loans to help beginning and established farmers. More than $3 million will aid new farmers in 10 counties — Adair, Caldwell, Calloway, Clark, Grayson, Green, Hopkins, Ohio, Rockcastle and Washington — while the rest will fund equipment upgrades for farms in four counties.
