- ➤ A Kentucky man was awarded $1.6 million by a Fayette County jury after a plastic chair collapsed and caused serious spinal injuries at the outdoor section of a Lexington Walmart in 2021. The jury held Walmart — Adams Manufacturing responsible for the incident. ABC 36
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Lexington investigators are seeking tips about an overnight shooting that occurred on July 10 around 12:30 a.m. near Lansdowne Drive and East Reynolds Road, where a man was shot with life-threatening injuries and a vehicle was damaged. FOX 56
- ➤ Glendover Elementary teacher Jaime Caldwell was indicted on vehicular homicide and DUI charges after she allegedly struck and killed pedestrian Joshua Hampton near Georgetown and Mercer Roads on April 16—she is set to be arraigned at 8:30 a.m. on July 25. FOX 56
- ➤ Kristen Morris—32-year-old entrepreneur—was found dead from an overdose at a Stanton Airbnb on May 31, but police say her death was murder after finding pill capsules linked to Brian Epperson—charged with murder in Powell County—and she leaves behind a 12-year-old daughter. LEX 18
- ➤ A Lexington teacher, Jaime Caldwell, was indicted on vehicular homicide and DUI charges after she hit 32-year-old Joshua Hampton on Georgetown Road on April 16, fled the scene, and later arrived at work at Glendover Elementary with a .278 breath reading—Hampton died two days later and she pleaded not guilty with a court appearance set for July 25. - ➤ Kentucky State Police said trooper Jude Remilien was shot during a traffic stop on Terminal Drive near Blue Grass Airport on Sunday and is in hospital in stable condition while suspect Guy House carjacked a driver and later shot four people at Richmond Road Baptist Church before officers fatally shot him—two victims, Christina Combs and Beverly Gumm, are dead and two others remain hospitalized.
