CRIME NEWS

  • Lexington police investigated a shooting on Eastern Avenue on Tuesday just before 12:30 p.m. when they found a man with a gunshot wound who was taken to a hospital and is expected to recover — no suspect information has been released.  ABC 36
  • A vigil in downtown Lexington honored victims Beverly Gumm and Christina Combs of last week’s church shooting at Richmond Road Baptist Church — local leaders stressed the need for increased gun violence awareness — while police provided domestic violence support resources.  FOX 56
  • City leaders, faith organizers & grieving families gathered at the Robert F. Stephens Courthouse on Tuesday to honor the July 13 church shooting victims, including 72-year-old Beverly Gumm and 34-year-old Christina Combs, while urging the community to take steps to stop violence.  ABC 36

  • DeBraun Thomas, a longtime WUKY host who created shows like Crunkadelic Funk, will leave on July 31 to pursue his music and other opportunities—he will continue producing Crunkadelic Funk after his final broadcast.  WUKY

  • Bluegrass Community and Technical College opened its new Adult Educational Services site in Woodford County on Tuesday during a ribbon cutting ceremony and open house at the Community and Technical College System office in Versailles — the service has supported adult learners in central Kentucky since 1998 and now reaches Anderson, Clark, Estill, Fayette, Scott, and Woodford counties.  ABC 36
