- ➤ Pastor Jerry Gumm of Richmond Road Baptist Church was shot multiple times on July 13 in a Lexington incident that killed his wife and daughter and injured others—he remains in recovery after several surgeries and said he will soon return to the pulpit. FOX 56

- ➤ Dr. Demetrus Liggins, superintendent of Fayette County Public Schools, was named Kentucky’s 2025 Superintendent of the Year on July 25—he will now compete for the national honor with the American Association of School Administrators. ABC 36
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ On Thursday, Mammoth Cave National Park announced the discovery of a tiny ancient shark called Macadens olsoni — noted for its curved tooth whorl used to crush mollusks and worms and named in honor of retired park scientist Rickard Olson. The fossils were found in the Ste. Genevieve Formation, which dates back 340 to 335 million years, and the find adds to a growing list of paleontological discoveries that deepen our understanding of ancient marine life. FOX 56
