  • Shelter worker Wyndel Beattie said the Beacon of Hope shelter in Winchester is full with people from Lexington, Louisville — and other counties who need help with domestic violence, addiction, and money problems. He said the shelter will soon open a new men's facility — to offer more beds as families and individuals keep seeking assistance with homelessness.  WKYT
  • With a heat advisory — effective until Thursday — Lexington groups are working with the city to help homeless residents by offering cool spaces, water and meals. Lighthouse Ministries runs a cooling center that serves 30 to 50 people on weekends while the Catholic Action Center hands out water to prevent heat stroke during peak hours.  WKYT

  • A 28-year-old man named Joseph Brett Ray from Bulan died after an ATV accident at Bull Creek in the Cornettsville community on Friday, and he was pronounced dead at the scene by the Perry County Coroner's Office+.  LEX 18
