  • On Sunday, the Seventh Day Adventist Church on Lima Drive held a Back to School Bash where church members gave away backpacks filled with school supplies, clothing, and food and offered free haircuts. The event, run by the Love Others Ministry, helped support local families — donations came from Walmart, Kroger, Dominos, and Chase Bank.  WKYT

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • On Sunday evening, police said a two-vehicle crash at Man o' War and Clearwater Way near Belleau Wood sent one person to hospital with life-threatening injuries—the Man o' War inner loop remains closed as investigators work the scene.  LEX 18

CRIME NEWS

  • On Sunday at about 2:00 a.m., a person was hospitalized with life threatening injuries after being struck by gunfire on the 3600 block of Tates Creek Road—police are investigating the incident.  WKYT
  • Lexington police responded around 2 a.m. Sunday to a shooting at Canter Pointe Apartments on Tates Creek Road and found a person with serious injuries who was taken to hospital—no suspect information is available.  LEX 18

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Kentucky is home to 33 snake species and four of these are venomous, which can cause serious injuries if provoked; local experts advise residents to learn key features like the copperhead’s copper head and the timber rattlesnake’s rattle. Most snakes in the state are harmless and help control rodent populations (helpful identification tools are available through local agencies).  FOX 56
