- ➤ Lexington favorite CD Central will close in early September to reopen under new ownership with a new name as owner Steve Baron retires after more than 30 years of service. The store on South Limestone near the University of Kentucky campus has been a local music hub—valued for its vinyl revival—and its transition marks a major change for longtime fans. WUKY
- ➤ Long John Silver’s new location in Nicholasville opened on July 21 and led to one of the top five single-day sales, and the chain is now looking to open another site in Lexington—its search for the right property continues. LEX 18
- ➤ Lexington’s CD Central, a long-time record store on South Limestone, will close next month after 30 years in business. The owner said the sale is a personal decision — a new group will open a different business in the space while customers are urged to redeem gift cards and collect pending orders before closing. - ➤ Apple said on Wednesday it will work with Corning to make all cover glass for its iPhone and Apple Watch at the Harrodsburg plant (a $2.5 billion project). The expansion will upgrade production and hire more people (boosting local employment). WKYT

- ➤ Fayette County Board of Education said it will use eminent domain to acquire land from parts of backyards next to RISE STEM Academy for Girls for its expansion, and no homes will be affected+ officials said the move follows good-faith negotiations with property owners. ABC 36

- ➤ Lawmakers looked for ways to ease the state's housing shortage, as studies showed a gap of over 206,000 units in 2024 that could grow to 287,000 by 2029. State Representative Josh Bray proposed letting local governments form housing development districts to offer tax breaks and more flexible zoning rules—aimed at spurring needed development in key areas.
