- ➤ UK Student Hayden Wheeler reunited with her cat Toot seven weeks after he went missing when a neighbor texted about a black cat seen near a car at Tates Creek; Toot left home weighing 16 pounds and returned at 8 after needing several surgeries. Wheeler said the cat is now thriving and she helps reunite lost pets (Lexington Fayette Animal Care and Control offers microchipping for $25 plus tax). WKYT
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ A person with a gunshot wound visited a Lexington hospital Sunday at around 6:30 p.m. — police report the injury was non-life threatening — and officers are investigating if shots fired near Gainesway Park were involved. WKYT
- ➤ A Louisville man was shot multiple times near Monterey in Owen County and died at the hospital after his injuries, and a suspect from Ghent was arrested and charged with murder—facing additional charges for drug-related offenses. LEX 18
- ➤ At Brannon Crossings, the Mustangs Lex 859 car group held a car show to raise funds for Randy Combs—one of two survivors of a deadly Lexington shooting that killed Beverly Gumm and Christina Combs, and he has come home from the hospital with his kids as he begins a long recovery. WKYT
- ➤ Lexington Police arrested a suspect on Saturday after a shooting on Baybrook Road and Mt. Tabor Road at 10:30 p.m.—a disorder between two cars led someone to fire at a vehicle, though the woman inside was not hurt. WKYT
- ➤ Authorities said a man suffered life-threatening injuries when he was shot near Kroger on Bryan Station Road just before midnight on Sunday, and he was taken to UK Hospital while police have not yet identified the shooter. WKYT

- ➤ The Lexington Police Department retired its K9 officer Rhea, an explosives detection dog who helped at events and emergency calls. The department now wishes her a happy life with her new family and plenty of treats and toys. LEX 18
