- ➤ The Lexington Fire Department said one person was taken to a local hospital after a structure fire occurred on Trent Boulevard Friday morning—fire crews quickly extinguished the blaze while an investigator examined the scene. LEX 18
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Woodford County Public Schools and the local EMS department have partnered to offer a year-long EMT program that gives students national registration—those who complete the course earn a state license and college credits to ease the local EMT shortage. The program includes extended classroom training, ambulance rides, and job shadowing to prepare students for a career in emergency services. LEX 18
- ➤ Whitney Walker, a long-time teacher at Lafayette High School, was named one of nine winners of the Kentucky Teacher Achievement Award by the Kentucky Department of Education and will now compete for the High School Teacher of the Year honor, with the overall winner to be announced on Oct. 7 in Frankfort.
