ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Two Marion County firefighters were airlifted to hospitals after a pumper rolled over on St. Francis Road near Lebanon — one was taken to the University of Louisville hospital in stable condition and the other to the University of Kentucky hospital in critical condition as officials investigate the crash. CRIME NEWS
- ➤ On Saturday around 7 a.m., Lexington Police responded to a call at a maintenance facility off Parkers Mill Road after a construction paver crashed through a fence and into a building — the driver fled the scene and the impact sheared off a Columbia Gas line, with officials saying there is no public safety threat. - ➤ American Idol winner Noah Thompson performed at the Gatton Park grand opening on August 22, giving Lexington residents a lively event to celebrate the park's new beginning. WKYT
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Lexington city officials are keeping the rainbow crosswalk in downtown even after questions arose from Orlando’s decision to remove a similar design — mayor Linda Gorton said the updated crosswalk meets all state transportation rules and safety guidelines. The crosswalk, added in 2017 as a symbol of Pride, was later modified to address safety concerns. WUKY
