  • At the Lexington Sporting Club on Thursday night, Henry Clay and Dunbar held a match to honor Noah Tinch— a former player and UK student who died in a fly fishing accident earlier this summer. Family and friends showed support by wearing shirts with the message 'Love — Lead — Live Like Noah' as a halftime video remembered his life.  LEX 18

CRIME NEWS

  • Lexington police investigated an early morning shooting on the 300 block of West Short Street at 2 a.m. Friday where one person was shot and a nearby business was hit by bullets— the victim was taken to a hospital and is expected to recover.  WKYT

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Lexington police have issued a traffic advisory for Labor Day Weekend as they remind drivers to avoid alcohol and allow extra travel time during today's UK football game. Parking restrictions near campus will be enforced from 6 a.m. today until 6 a.m. on Sunday—motorists must obey officer directions and posted signals.  WKYT
  • Old Richmond Road will close between the Fayette—Madison County line and Beach Road for storm drain repairs on Tuesday and Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.—drivers are advised to use I-75 as an alternate route.  ABC 36

HEALTH NEWS

  • The FDA approved the 2025-2026 COVID boosters, but Kentucky pharmacists will not give the shots until the CDC panel meets in late September—residents may need to travel to nearby states or use prescriptions for administration at a clinic.  WUKY

  • Kentucky football will face Toledo in their season opener today and local sports bars like Banner’s and Winchell's are preparing for crowded venues. Fans ranging from ages 5 to 80—both long-time supporters and newcomers—are set to cheer in packed gathering spots as the Wildcats aim for a strong start.  LEX 18
  • Coach Mark Stoops said his team will play Toledo today as they try to change the narrative by starting Zach Calzada as quarterback with Cutter Boley as backup—he added that Toledo is highly ranked and will test the team's strength in this season opener.
