ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • On Sunday, a vehicle on I-75 northbound near mile marker 124 flipped after hitting a rock, and 63-year-old Wesley Keith Richie from Lexington was pronounced dead at the scene.  WKYT
  • The Fayette County Coroner said 43-year-old James Darin Langston drowned while fishing with friends on Saturday night in Lexington—officials are investigating his death.  ABC 36

CRIME NEWS

  • Lexington police arrested a suspect on Sunday afternoon at the 100 block of North Limestone— the victim refused medical treatment and the investigation remains ongoing.  ABC 36
  • A driver was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries after a single-vehicle crash at the intersection of Harrodsburg Road + Burbank Drive on Saturday night and was charged with DUI.  ABC 36

ECONOMY NEWS

  • During Labor Day weekend, Lexington travelers enjoyed lower travel costs as gas averaged $2.92 a gallon and most chose to drive, with AAA noting nearly 90 percent of Kentuckians traveled by car. INRIX warned that heavy afternoon traffic slowed trips—Blue Grass Airport reported all flights were on time as of Monday morning.  ABC 36

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Lexington Council Member James Brown announced his re-election campaign for his At-Large seat in 2026. He was first appointed in 2015 and made history in 2022 as the first African-American elected countywide, and he has focused on bridging community divides through his work on various boards.  ABC 36
  • Yesterday, Live Green Lexington launched a new text alert system that required residents to sign up by texting Join+the correct keyword to 31002 for updates on waste collection, volunteer opportunities, events, and sanitary sewer overflows. Email alerts+will switch to the new system by mid-September.  LEX 18
