  • Kentucky employers are using health care benefits as a key strategy to hire new workers and keep current staff happy—by offering plans with mental health support, primary care options, and family-friendly coverage.   • Miss Kentucky Ariana Rodriguez, aged 20, made history at the Miss America pageant by becoming the first former foster youth to make the top 11—she overcame early hardships like homelessness and started the Lucky Ones Foundation.   • Fayette County Public Schools has 43 high school seniors as National Merit semifinalists based on their 2024 PSAT scores who will compete next semester for nearly $26 million in awards. These students are among 16,000 high school seniors nationwide and represent less than one percent of all test takers—showing their strong performance.  Fayette County Public Schools
  • The University of Kentucky terminated Scott Stanley, former director of the Equine Analytical Chemistry Lab, after an internal audit found ethics violations including falsified test results and conflicts of interest—his tenure was revoked in a special board session.  ABC 36
  • The University of Kentucky terminated tenured faculty member Scott Stanley on Sept 11 for breaching ethics and mismanaging the Equine Analytical Chemistry Lab used for equine drug testing—an internal audit revealed falsified results and undisclosed conflicts of interest.  The Lane Report
  • Kentucky educators and lawmakers are weighing how AI might help or hurt students and jobs, and they plan to set rules so it is used safely + to make sure people learn the right skills. The AI task force led by Sen. Amanda Mays Bledsoe will share its ideas in November.  The Lane Report

  • Two Kosair Kids — 8-year-old leukemia survivor Luciana from Lexington and 11-year-old Nora who underwent a rare transplant surgery from Louisville — traveled with the UK Volleyball team at a showcase event on ESPN Wednesday night in Fort Worth and got to warm up with the players and cheer from the stands. The team, ranked third in the nation, made history when Brooklyn DeLeye recorded her 1,000th career kill.  WKYT
