- ➤ An overnight fire forced a Lexington family out of their Bold Bidder Drive home early Wednesday morning—Red Cross has provided temporary housing as investigators work to determine the cause while no one was injured. ABC 36

- ➤ Stephen McCreary left his trucking career after 11 years to open East Lexington’s first Fresh Coat Painters franchise — he has run the business for over three months and is eager to support local neighbors through donations and community work. He said advice from radio personality Dave Ramsey helped him begin this new chapter in his life. The Lane Report
- ➤ TrinDocs, a software company, is expanding its Lexington operations with a $636,000 investment to create 20 jobs—its new office will be nearly four times larger than its current space and see construction begin before the end of the year. The Lane Report
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Today, the extensive political memorabilia collection of the late J.K. Patrick—featuring items dating back to the 1920s—will be auctioned at Lancaster Auction Center with doors opening at 7:30 a.m. Bidding starts at 9:30 a.m., marking the third auction that honors his lifelong passion for political history. - ➤ Festival Latino de Lexington returns this weekend for Hispanic Heritage Month celebrations, beginning Friday at 5 p.m. at Robert F. Stephens Courthouse Plaza with live music and dance and continuing Saturday until 11 p.m.—Sunday features a community health fair at Masterson Station Park. ABC 36
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ The University of Kentucky said its preliminary fall enrollment hit 38,719 with 7,012 first-time students and over 4,000 new Kentuckians — up from 35,951 last fall. The school also reported record graduation rates at nearly 72% and is expanding support for students. The Lane Report

- ➤ Phoenix Park in downtown Lexington at Main Street and Limestone was renovated with a $4.6 million redesign that added swinging benches, a dog park, and a three-story climbing playground—Mayor Linda Gorton said the park also offers a stage for live music, a sensory play area, interactive electronic games, and self-cleaning restrooms and is open daily from sunup until 11 p.m. WUKY
- ➤ On Friday, a U.S. District Court judge issued a temporary restraining order stopping the USDA from accessing personal details of SNAP recipients until further hearings in October; Governor Andy Beshear called the ruling a win for the privacy rights of over half a million Kentuckians relying on SNAP. - ➤ Lexington mayoral candidate Raquel Carter started a citywide listening tour to hear local ideas on small business, housing, and public safety. Her tour will begin on Sept. 23 at 6 p.m. at Poppy's Flower Bar — a spot on Old Mt Tabor Rd A. LEX 18
- ➤ The Kentucky Supreme Court struck down Lexington’s ban on no-knock warrants on Thursday after ruling that it conflicts with state law which limits but does not prohibit their use when clear evidence of violent crime exists, and the decision was issued by a 4–2 vote. Local police will now follow the state guidelines for serving such warrants. WUKY

- ➤ Madison County midwife Chante Perryman and her husband JaMichael delivered 30,000 period products to elementary, middle and high schools in four counties last week to help schoolgirls who lack supplies—each drop of 2,000 products is expected to last about 6 weeks. LEX 18
