- ➤ Tyler Childers partnered with the Libby app to launch the Hickman Holler Reading Club that lets readers borrow free ebooks and audiobooks with their library cards. He began the club with a monthly book recommendation starting with Jack Kerouac’s On The Road—also the name of his current tour—so readers in Lexington can participate. WUKY

- ➤ Fayette County Public Schools principals Alexander Butler, Felicia Lindsay, and Holly Vogler were selected for the Kentucky Chamber Foundation’s free, year-long Leadership Institute for School Principals — an executive training program funded by Truist and matching donations from local businesses that will boost leadership skills for school administrators. - ➤ Fayette County Public Schools moved a step closer to an independent external audit—after the audit committee met Wednesday morning to plan recommendations and bid guidelines, including a potential forensic review. The board will issue proposals soon while the committee coordinates with state probes and addresses concerns raised by a student petition against superintendent Dr. Liggins. WKYT
- ➤ Choir directors Emily Levey and Lynn Przygoda from Fayette County at Hayes and Leestown have been chosen by the Kentucky Educational Development Corp. to join the Think aiEDU grant program & work with 40 educators on using artificial intelligence in classrooms. - ➤ Fifty-eight hemp farmers sent a letter on Monday urging Senator Mitch McConnell to protect their harvest from new rules that would make THC from hemp illegal—putting jobs and Kentucky’s hemp industry at risk. McConnell said he is talking with both sides as the debate over the 2018 Farm Bill continues. WKYT

- ➤ Kentucky invests millions in childhood cancer research because doctors at UK Hospital say the funds are saving young lives. On Monday, First Lady Britainy Beshear and state leaders announced additional funding—helping families with treatment costs as part of Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. LEX 18
- ➤ Students at William Wells Brown Elementary in Lexington made over 200 colorful cards to support a classmate waiting for a heart transplant at Cincinnati Children's Hospital—five-year-old Malia Croley has battled cardiomyopathy and undergone five open heart surgeries. - ➤ No. 3 Kentucky volleyball swept South Carolina in three sets on Wednesday night at Historical Memorial Coliseum in Lexington — the Wildcats won 25-17, 29-27 and 25-18. Brooklyn DeLeye led with 14 kills and a season-high 16 digs as the team improved its record to 8-2 overall and 1-0 in conference play. ABC 36
- ➤ Kentucky is set to take its 214.7 rushing yards per game and nine touchdowns on the ground to Columbia Saturday night at 7:45 p.m. ET as the Cats play South Carolina in their first road game of the season—offensive coordinator Bush Hamdan said the team will rely on the run to control the clock and avoid mistakes. - ➤ The Southeastern Conference announced a new four-season schedule that will run through 2029 and designate three annual opponents for each team—keeping many traditional rivalries intact while rotating the other matchups. - ➤ The Kentucky Horse Park is asking state lawmakers for permission to let its mounted police remove anyone sanctioned under SafeSport guidelines—officials said the step is needed to keep violators away from young athletes on its 1,200-acre grounds.
