- ➤ Lexington released its 2025 homeless street survey results today, showing a 5.5% drop to 2,868 individuals as officials noted that House Bill 5 has made people hide from arrest. - ➤ Mayor Linda Gorton cut the ribbon on Cardinal Run Park North on Thursday, opening a 140-acre park with trails, sports fields, playgrounds and a 9-acre dog park—marking the largest new park in over 25 years that was years in the making after land was donated 18 years ago. ABC 36

- ➤ Environmental advocates and farmers gathered in Lexington this week for the second annual composting conference organized by the Kentucky Composting Council to learn how to reduce food waste and support soil health. HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Diane Crump, the first female jockey to run in the Kentucky Derby in 1971, was diagnosed with a type of brain cancer and her family is raising money for her treatment at home—Medicare does not cover all costs. LEX 18
- ➤ Fleming County Homemakers donated about 60 handmade quilts to comfort young patients at Shriner's Children's Hospital in Lexington on Thursday. The quilts—made by 20 volunteers—help children feel cared for during their recovery. LEX 18
- ➤ Yesterday, the Lexington-Fayette County Health Department held its Sock and Blanket Giveaway at the Charles Young Center from 4 to 6 p.m.—families received free socks, blankets, and baby sleep sacks.
